AViiDA Scores Fringe World 2018 Nomination

Posted 28 Feb 2018

Perth’s powerhouse duo AViiDA have had an incredible start to 2018, with a string of full houses for their acclaimed Respect & Wonder show which made it’s FRINGE WORLD debut. The show dazzled it’s way back to Connections Nightclub for 3 nights in February to screams, cheers, dancing and a few new songs added to the set to shake things up.

On the eve before their final show at the Festival, news came in the show had been nominated for the Music and Musicals Category. A huge achievement for this independent, and self funded production which has gone from strength to strength since it’s debut at Ellington Jazz Club in May 2017.

FRINGE WORLD Awards are given to the best shows in each genre category, plus there are a bunch of special awards that are unique to FRINGE WORLD.

Shows are judged by a panel made up of more than 100 volunteers from across the cultural industries in Perth.

The 2018 winners were announced at a ceremony on February 25 (the last day of Fringe!).

Award winners get cash, development, support and direct touring opportunities as part of their award.

The Martin Sims Award for best WA Production is our top-tier prize and the winning artist receives $10,000 and development support to tour their work to other national and international Fringe Festivals that are part of the world Fringe Alliance.

Big congrats to AViiDA for their nomination this year and stay tuned for more show updates coming soon!
